Club Trip to Cyprus
At the end of last March eight of our members went on the annual club trip to Cyprus.
As usual we had a fantastic week of shooting at various clubs throughout the island.
Everyone is aware that the people of Cyprus are some of the most hospitable people in the world and our members found this to be no less true of the shooting fraternity. At each of the shooting grounds we were helped in one way or another by one of the locals.
One ground that we always visit is the BERETTA SHOOTING GROUND in the Trudos Mountains.
On our first visit, four years ago, we found this club by accident and we were overwhelmed by the effort the owner put in to ensure we enjoyed our afternoon shooting, even though he was in the middle of preparing his ground for the forthcoming clay season.
Each year since then, we have returned to be tested by a wonderful and varied selection of sporting targets, as well as Trap and Skeet, set in the magnificent Trudos scenery.
This year, before leaving the island, we decided to have our last day at the Marocchi ground. Whilst there we were invited to lunch by Mr. Constantinides the owner.
It was a really wonderful meal arranged and presided over by his daughter.
They went to so much effort for a number of people that they only saw for one week in the year. His generosity is, it seems, boundless.
Anyone reading this and thinking of going to the island for a holiday then BERETTA is a must.
The MAROCCHI e-mail address is phicon@shotgunscy com.
Another memorable shoot that we had during the week was at the army camp at Agios Nicolaeous. We had a full day there as guests of the club who put on a wonderful 100 bird-sporting shoot for us. Some of their members even had the day off work to ensure that we had a good time at their ground.
Greetland Shooting Club would like to express its deepest gratitude to Mr. Philippos Constantinides and his wonderful daughter at Marocchi for once again showing our members great hospitality.
Also, to Captain Dixon and all the members of the Agios Nicolaeous club who gave us an unforgettable day at Iya Nappa.
